For those driving from State Highway 8, you can go on a detour via State Highways 6, 84 or 8A. You will be driving for 30 kilometers.
There are also bus companies that service tours to Wanaka. If you go on a tour, you can stop by Wanaka and head to other famous tourist attractions such as Fox Glacier, Dunedin, Queenstown, and Christchurch.
